YOU and Partners to Offer Free Videojournalism Workshop for Students

 The YOU and Marist College are partnering with Spectrum News to offer a free videojournalism workshop for high school students. Students will receive five days of instruction from the world-renowned media training team that helped Spectrum News build out its own national news network.

Dates: Monday, August 22 - Friday, August 26

Location: Christ Episcopal Church, Newton Community Room, 20 Carroll St., Poughkeepsie

The workshop has space for 30 students. Acceptance notifications will be E-mailed by Wednesday, Aug. 17, 5 p.m.

 The workshop is being funded by Spectrum News and coordinated by Marist College’s Liberty Partnership Program. 

Instructors from the pioneering media training team, Rosenblum TV will train students to use nothing more than their own smartphones to produce compelling storytelling. Students will be trained to report, shoot, edit and produce their own work — all on their own smartphones. 

As world leaders in video training and visual storytelling, Rosenblum TV has used this methodology to build out Spectrum News’ own national news network. Additional clients include The New York Times, the United Nations, BBC and Travel Channel.

The workshop has space for 30 students. Any Dutchess County student who will be enrolled in high school for the 2022-2023 academic year is eligible to apply. Students interested in videojournalism, storytelling, and/or television production and media arts are encouraged to submit an application.
